About Podere Sapaio

Owner of Podere Sapaio, Massimo Piccin, purchased his estate in Bolgheri, Italy in 1999 and planted the vineyards one year later. His winery’s first vintage in 2004 was readily described as "excellent, a prelude of things to come," an admirable accomplishment for such young vines. Though relatively new on the Bolgheri wine scene, Massimo and his consulting enologist Carla Ferrini, quickly cultivated a devoted following with their wines, which, in true Bolgheri fashion, show a great ability to age for a decade or more. One of the fundamental points of the Podere Sapaio philosophy is respect for the land and a sustainable approach that effectively combines technology and tradition. Podere Sapaio produces some of the world’s top rated wines.
