Asali Desserts & Cafe and Sassool are excited to announce a special collaborative dinner. The two women-owned businesses are collaborating to celebrate their cultures and hospitality through food. In regards to this special collaborative dinner, Simone Lawson, co-owner of Sassool says, "Sharing food with others is the way that we show love and creativity. Food reaches beyond language and different beliefs. It unites everyone; and when brought together over a delicious meal, we find common ground and forget about our differences as we discover the story that the meal has to tell."

The collaborative meal serves two people and consists of an entree and salad provided by Sassool and crafted tea and a dessert by Asali. The dinner will be takeout style and ticket holders will receive the food packed in heat-and-eat containers. Tickets for this dinner are available online here

The pickup date is July 17th and can either be picked up at Sassool Raleigh or Sassool Cary. When purchasing tickets, email simone@sassool.com to note which location the meal will be picked up from.

About Asali Desserts & Cafe

Hailing from entrepreneurial families, Hanadi Asad and Jamaal Ali had always dreamed of owning their own business. Ali's mother, a master at baking delicious Mediterranean treats, graciously shared her secret family recipes with the two, and Asad and Ali got to work in the kitchen.

While brainstorming names for their new venture, the couple combined their last names, Asad and Ali, to form "Asali." They quickly discovered that Asali is also the word for "sweets" and "honey" in both Arabic and Persian. The couple took this happy coincidence as a sign of good luck and, seeing an opportunity to seize their dream, Asali Desserts was officially founded in 2001.

Since then, Asali has expanded to include specialty cakes and event services, providing their services and sweets to countless events of all sizes throughout the Triangle. Their brick-and-mortar cafe is open in MacGregor Village in Cary, North Carolina, serving desserts, small plates, and coffee. Follow along with Asali on Instagram and Facebook
