13 Tacos and Taps, Food Diary of a City Girl and Nancy Thapa Collaborate to Host a “Margarita Battle” to Benefit Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina

Raleigh’s 13 Tacos and Taps is hosting their first ever “Margarita Battle” to benefit the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina. The battle features local food bloggers Cecilia “Cece” Moreno of Food Diary of A  City Girl and Nancy Thapa. The two bloggers have created their own unique margaritas that will be featured at 13 Tacos and Taps from July 27th-Aug. 7th. For each cocktail sold, $1 will be donated to the Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina to help combat hunger in the community. The “Margarita Battle” winner will be announced on Aug. 7th on 13 Tacos and Taps’ social media platforms and will be determined by which margarita was the top seller.

The two margaritas up for battle include:

“Tamarind Margarita” by Cece Moreno of Food Diary of A City Girl

This margarita features tamarind pulp simple syrup using sour tamarind pods. Served in a rocks glass with a Tajín coated rim. 

“OOO-Out of Office” by Nancy Thapa

Mango and passionfruit margarita topped with diced mangoes, mint and a black salt rim. 

About 13 Tacos and Taps

Former executive chef of Gonza Tacos & Tequila, Jibarra, Mez and David’s on the Avenue, David Peraza-Arce has worked in the restaurant industry for most of his life. David’s on The Avenue was named one of the 10 best new restaurants in South Florida by Time Magazine. After a successful career in Miami, David and his wife Marilyn moved to North Carolina to be closer to family. David opened his food truck, The 13th Taco, in 2016. Because of his love for food, people and the restaurant business, Chef David and Marilyn opened up a brick and mortar restaurant in 2019, 13 Tacos and Taps. Chef David and Marilyn focus on their passion for creating unique tacos and pairing them with beer from local breweries around the Triangle. 13 Tacos and Taps is located at 10511 Shadowlawn Dr., Raleigh, NC 27614. The restaurant is open Tuesday-Friday for lunch from 11:30am-2pm and dinner from 5pm-9pm, as well as Saturday from 11:30am-9pm.
