Village District Celebrates 75 Years with a 2024 Full of Memorable Events, Exciting Collaborations, and Community Growth

Raleigh, NC - December 17, 2024 – This year marked an incredible milestone for Village District as the beloved shopping and dining destination celebrated its 75th anniversary. From special events to art installations, new store openings, and community collaborations, 2024 was packed with festivities that highlighted the Village District’s legacy and its vision for the future.

A Year of Celebration

The centerpiece of the year-long festivities was their Anniversary Celebration & Concert held in April, featuring live music, family-friendly activities, and an atmosphere of joy and nostalgia. 

Adding to the festivities, Village District partnered with local brewery, Standard Beer, to create the exclusive Village 75 beer, a limited-edition 7.5% IPA that captured the spirit of the community and became a favorite among visitors.

Art and Culture Take Center Stage

Throughout the year, Village District showcased its commitment to the arts with the debut of Brightly Ever After pop-up installations, bringing interactive and photogenic displays to the center. Additionally, several new artworks and sculptures were installed, further enhancing the cultural landscape.

The District also undertook an ambitious project of updating many of its murals, blending vibrant new designs with its rich history, and creating a visually stunning backdrop for shoppers and visitors.

Expanding the Village Family

This milestone year welcomed several new businesses to the Village, further diversifying its retail and dining offerings. Notable openings included:

  • Ballard Designs: A destination for timeless home furnishings and decor, blending European-inspired design with modern functionality.

  • Rowan: A modern ear-piercing studio redefining the experience with hypoallergenic earrings and a focus on creativity, self-expression, and safety.

  • Copper Penny: A boutique featuring chic women's fashion, shoes, and accessories with a focus on timeless Southern style.

  • Postino WineCafe: A cozy yet vibrant spot for wine lovers, serving curated wine selections, shareable bites, and a welcoming community atmosphere.

  • FP Movement: Free People's activewear line, offering stylish and functional apparel designed to inspire movement and empower an active lifestyle.

Signature Events for the Community

In September, Village District hosted the Concours Auto Show, which drew car enthusiasts from across the region to admire an incredible display of classic and luxury automobiles.

Village District also hosted nine events throughout the year, bringing in 6.1M visitors over the last 12 months.

Giving Back to the Community

In the spirit of giving, Village District raised funds with events and charity campaigns throughout the year, making a significant impact with contributions to local nonprofits and communities totaling over $30K. Various giveaways and initiatives brought joy to nine community members.

With eighty-eight businesses now calling the Village home, the center remains a vital part of Raleigh’s cultural and economic landscape. As this celebratory year comes to a close, the Village District looks forward to continuing its legacy of providing exceptional experiences for visitors and supporting the local community.
