Although North Carolina restaurants are adjusting to suspended dining, STIR Raleigh in North Hills is taking the initiative to contribute meals to local charities. Feed the Fight, a Washington, DC nonprofit, and STIR have partnered together to support Raleigh’s first responders and community members in need.

STIR and Feed The Fight give individuals the opportunity to help Raleigh nonprofits and the communities that they serve. Individuals can purchase meals for first responders and people in need through STIR. STIR delivers those meals to charity partners, who distribute them to the communities that they support. Charities’ budgets are being stretched thin by the urgent services they are providing during the COVID-19 pandemic. STIR and Feed the Fight ensure that people in need receive fresh meals while alleviating budget pressure at local charities.

Participating organizations and charities include:

Oak City Cares

Oak City Cares is STIR’s primary charity they’ve worked with since opening last summer and feeds more than 1,000 people currently living on Raleigh’s streets.

911 Call Center

The 97 employees at Raleigh’s 911 Call Center work 24/7, including every night when they cannot order food.

Raleigh Women's Center

The Raleigh Women’s Center is helping 25 women with nowhere to call home, break the cycle of trauma, abuse, violence and homelessness.

Raleigh Rescue Mission

Raleigh rescue mission serves more than 20 children and 40 adults who have found themselves homeless or without family members who can care for them.

About Feed the Fight

Feed the Fight began as a neighborhood effort to patronize local restaurants and show support for healthcare workers at the outset of the COVID-19 crisis. Within weeks it has become a full-fledged network that is having a positive impact across D.C., Maryland and Virginia (DMV). Over 200 individual contributors have donated more than $20,000 toward the purchase and delivery of more than 6000 takeout meals from local restaurants for healthcare workers in hospitals and clinics across the DMV. Feed the Fight has the double impact of driving business to local restaurants working to stay operational and thanking healthcare workers fighting on the front lines of this unprecedented crisis.
