NC State Fair-Inspired Foods at Restaurants in October in Collaboration with WRAL Out & About

The Tabletop Team is thrilled to announce that for the second year in a row, we’ve teamed up with WRAL Out & About and several of our clients for a deliciously fun, fair-inspired collaboration. We started this collaboration last year after the NC State Fair had been canceled, but after a huge success, we decided to do it again this year. We teamed up with WRAL Out and About editor Kathy Hanrahan to launch 7 NC State Fair-inspired foods and cocktails for the 10 day period the fair will be operating.

Even though the NC State Fair will once again be up and running, we thought, why not bring back a few of the delicious specials, and a few new ones, from last year that were such a hit? Our Tabletop Media Group clients will once again be debuting fun specials, and we hope you’ll visit these restaurants to try them all! The restaurants will be launching these specials during the NC State Fair (Oct. 14 - 24, 2021). 

Tonbo Ramen 

Ram’N Cheese On A Stick

A classic with a Tonbo twist! Tonbo Ramen’s Ram’N Cheese On A Stick is made with ramen noodles, sharp cheddar and roasted shishito peppers. This delicious bite is panko-coated and deep-fried, then topped with a house made shishito tartar sauce and Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese. 

Asali

Sweet Potato Cream Atayef

Asali, a bakery and cafe located in Cary, NC specializing in Mediterranean treats, is serving up a unique dish with a Southern twist. Owner Hanadi Asad’s Sweet Potato Cream Atayef features a fluffy pancake filled with creamy mashed sweet potatoes, drizzled with sweet rose water and orange blossom syrup, then topped with roasted pecans. This treat will surely give you that NC State Fair feeling.

Missing Link Taco

Everything you love about sausage and peppers at the NC State Fair, all in a taco! The Missing Link  Taco, created by 13 Tacos and Taps, includes a bacon-wrapped sausage link, peppers and onions, black bean puree, ketchup and cilantro, all in a flour tortilla. 

Raleigh Rolls

Pumpkin Pie Rolls

This Thai rolled ice cream shop at Raleigh’s Morgan Street Food Hall plans to roll up a fall delicacy: pumpkin pie! This treat is complete with a delicious, creamy base of ice cream with pumpkin puree, spices and graham crackers mixed in, all rolled up, and topped with whipped cream and even more graham crackers.

STIR

Dole Whip Cocktail

This North Hills restaurant will be serving a Dole Whip Cocktail. STIR’s General Manager, Che Ramos, has created this refreshing, plantation pineapple rum-based cocktail with John D. Taylor's Velvet Falernum Liqueur - to add some spice, sweetness and almond - and pineapple juice, served over shaved ice with grated nutmeg on top, and a pineapple wedge garnish.

Sassool 

Crispy Chicken Sandwich

Crispy chicken and garlic? Say no more! Sassool will be serving their Crispy Garlic Chicken Sandwich throughout the 10 day promotion at both their North Raleigh and Cary, NC locations. The sandwich includes crispy garlic chicken, Sassool's cabbage slaw, sliced roasted potatoes and whipped garlic aioli, hugged between warm pita bread.

Coronato Pizza

Roman Carnival Doughnuts

Chef-Owner Teddy Diggs’ Roman Carnival Doughnuts are not to be missed! Coronato, a Roman-style pizzeria in Carrboro, NC, will be serving their made-from-scratch, pillowy soft dough balls during this special promotion. Reminiscent of the American doughnut holes, Coronato’s version will offer two options: a dusting of cinnamon sugar or dunked in a bath of royal icing and topped with rainbow sprinkles.

Il Palio

Calabrian Hot Chicken Sandwich,

Do you like things spicy? You can’t miss this speical feature at Il Palio in Chapel Hill! Ashly Farm Chicken, Calabrian Chili Pepper oil, pickled fennel, house pickled Vera Luci farm corno di toro peppers, sesame seed potato roll served with crunchy French fries.
