Local Celebrity Chef to Debut on Food Network's Supermarket Stakeout

Sera Cuni, local celebrity chef and owner of Cafe Root Cellar in Pittsboro and Root Cellar Cafe & Catering in Chapel Hill, is returning to the Food Network. Tapped as a competitor for Season 5 of the cable network's Supermarket Stakeout with celebrity Chef Alex Guarnaschelli, Cuni will appear in the episode “Fast Food Frenzy,” which airs on Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at 9 p.m.

Supermarket Stakeout is a competitive fast-paced show that pits four chefs from across the country against one another in a pop-up kitchen outside of a grocery store. To win, competitors must convince shoppers to sell their recently purchased groceries, with hopes of snagging needed ingredients to complete their assigned themed dishes.

This will be Cuni’s third appearance on the Food Network. Over the past three years, she has appeared twice on Guy’s Grocery Games. Cafe Root Cellar will host a live premiere viewing party for Cuni’s episode at the Pittsboro restaurant on May 30, 2023.
