Friends of Tabletop: Meet Hannah from Life with Hanny!

Friends of Tabletop is a place where we share who we love working with. This can range from a client, influencer/blogger, or special someone who simply means a lot to the Tabletop Team. Colleagues and friends who we’ve met throughout our journey with Tabletop Media Group make us a part of who we are.

For our May Friends of Tabletop, meet Hannah from Life with Hanny!

Tell us about Life With Hanny.

Hey guys! I am Hannah and I'm so excited to be featured this month. I am a Midwest girlie at heart. I'm from Sandusky Ohio and and an celebrating my 10-year Durm-versary on June 10th. My dog Wally is usually with me wherever I go, we love all of the dog-friendly coffee shops in Durham. I also really enjoy thrifting mid century modern houseware items and nostalgia from my childhood.

Why did you start Life with Hanny?

I originally started my Instagram as a fitness/weightloss accountability page in 2018. During the pandemic I started sharing more about local businesses and favorite places to support in the Triangle, and I changed my handle to lifewithhanny summer of 2020.

What is your favorite food?

This probably sounds basic, but my favorite food is pizza. And one of my favorite pizzas in the Triangle is the Loaded Pep & Cheese pizza (can't forget the side of ranch!) from Enzo's Pizza in Durham. Their pizza is so delicious and when they say loaded with pepperoni, they mean loaded.

What about least favorite food?

I am a pretty picky eater, so this is honestly a really long list I won't bore y'all with. Aka I don't want to be judged for how picky I am

Bar order? If you don't drink, what's your coffee order?

I am not a huge drinker anymore, so I am in my mocktail era I am a coffee addict, I literally get excited to go to bed at night thinking about waking up drinking coffee in the morning. My go-to order at a coffee shop is an iced vanilla latte.

What is one of your unpopular opinions? (i.e. opinion you have that goes against the norm)

People always think I'm crazy for this but I HATE oranges and citrus. I think it is so gross. I am definitely still dealing with some unresolved trauma from my childhood because my mom loved orange juice and would make me drink a glass every morning even though I hated it. I would let it sit out and it would get warm and she would still make me drink it. Yuck I am cringing just thinking about it!

Where is your favorite place to eat in The Triangle?

My favorite places to frequent in the Triangle are coffee shops. In Durham my three favorites are Everlou, Whisk and Rye, and Cocoa Cinnamon. Food wise, I am a sucker for a diner or hole-in-the-wall type of place. I love Silver Spoon Diner and Durham Filling Station in Durham so much. They are not beautiful, but they have some dang good food!

Do you have a favorite story about how you got to where you are in your career?

Not necessarily a specific story, but sometimes I think back to what I thought my career would be when I was in college. I majored in journalism and minored in popular culture. I always thought I'd live in NYC and work for a big paper and on the side work for a fun museum. That did not end up being the case. After college I had a hard time finding a job and lived at home for a year where I worked at Fazolis (fast food Italian restaurant) freelanced for the local paper, wrote for a hip hop music blog and sold Avon. My step sister's mom helped me get a job at Fidelity investments in 2013 which is what brought me to North Carolina. Fast forward ten years and I work for an ad tech company as a Product Owner.

If you could redo one thing in regards to your social influencer career what would it be?

Not letting it stress me out as much as it has in the past, for sure. Sometimes the algorithm isn't my friend and I just have to accept that.

What's the most useful lesson you've learned from being a social influencer?

Not to take myself to serious online. If I want to post a silly video, I'm just going to do it and have fun.
