Enjoy a Fall Day Trip in Warrenton, North Carolina

Located just 1 hour north of the Triangle area, Warrenton is my current hometown and it's just as charming as can be! I hope you enjoy my day trip idea to experience the best fall flavors and fun in the area.

9am: Wake up and hit the road!

10am: Stop at Drip Coffee + Market

Enjoy apple cider mini doughnuts and one of Drip's seasonal lattes. I'm a big fan of their toasted marshmallow bourbon latte at the moment. It's perfect for fall and extra cozy! I love sinking into their comfy couch and sipping on my coffee while enjoying a sweet treat to start my day. Their savory croissant breakfast sandwiches are also not to be missed! You can enjoy egg, cheese, bacon, ham or turkey on a toasted croissant.

11am: Walk around the quaint Main Street & beyond

Warrenton has one of the cutest Main Streets that is becoming revitalized thanks to awesome entrepreneurs and support from the Town of Warrenton and Warren County. Be sure to wander a few streets off of Main Street to enjoy the beautiful old homes that will most definitely be decorated for fall with pumpkins and spooky Halloween decor. Halloween is quite the event in town and you don't want to miss stopping by the Somerville-Graham House that gets all decked out with a full-size coffin, vampires, bats, skeletons and more!

Be sure to also window shop and pop into some awesome storefronts. One of my favorite places to get an Orangeade is at Friends Two. They also have the cutest handmade goods that are perfect for gifting friends and family during the holiday season. I also like popping into Quilt Lizzy; this shop has the best button selection around. I’ve never seen so many cute buttons in one store! Quilt Lizzy attracts folks from all over the United States who are into quilting.

12pm: If you're craving something for lunch, head over to the Burger Barn, which is just a few blocks away from Courthouse Square on Macon Street. This local establishment has been around for years and has the best burgers in town! Pro tip: Don't skip out on their extra crispy onion rings.

1pm: Walk down the street to Locorum Distillery and Time Out

New to Main Street is Locorum Distillery founded by entrepreneur Stacy Woodhouse. This new distillery offers a variety of cocktails and mocktails with a sophisticated ambiance. Get Alfie to make you a dirty martini with stuffed blue cheese olives!

If you want to continue bar hopping, just a short walk down the street is a local sports bar called Time Out. They have excellent chicken wings and homemade empanadas! I always love kicking back to enjoy a margarita on the rocks with extra salt on the rim.

2pm: Venture to Mill Hill for locally brewed beer & food trucks

Take a short drive to Mill Hill, the new brewery in town! You’ll find a relaxed vibe with plenty of outdoor seating. Be sure to visit on a night when there’s live music and food trucks. Hale Yeah is a crowd favorite food truck that offers the best lobster rolls around! Mill Hill is kid-friendly and has the best home brewed root beer; my nieces and I are all huge fans! Plus, you’ll find seasonal beers on tap like the Ayinger Oktoberfest and robust porters and stouts.

3:30pm: Wine tasting at Seven Springs Farm & Vineyard

Located near the town of Ridgeway, Seven Springs Farm & Vineyard is a small family owned and operated farm and vineyard. End your day sipping some muscadine wines as you walk through the vineyard or down to the pond for breathtaking views of the rural side of the county. Seven Springs is always hosting fun events so be sure to check out their events calendar before your day trip to plan accordingly.
