Carolina Brewery Places Third Overall and Wins Awards at the 2023 Carolinas Championship of Beer

Oldest Brewery in the Triangle, Carolina Brewery, announces their many accolades at the 2023 Carolinas Championship of Beer. Carolina Brewery received third place overall out of 199 competing entries. Their Costero Mexican Lager was awarded a gold medal, their Sky Blue Kolsch and Fin Chaser Pale Ale were awarded silver medals, and their Oatmeal Porter and Copperline Amber Ale were awarded bronze medals.

“It's the first time that we have competed in the Carolinas Championship of Beer since 2018 and we are honored to win five medals and place third overall in this prestigious competition,” said Robert Poitras, CEO and Founder of Carolina Brewery. “Our Brewers have spent a lot of time and effort perfecting quality control standards and brewing processes so winning these awards are a huge validation of all of their hard work.”

Carolina Brewery prides themselves on their commitment to quality and were thrilled to showcase these efforts at the 2023 Carolinas Championship of Beer. "Our Brewers work every day to ensure our strict standard operating procedures in brewing and canning are met including examining our yeast under a microscope for viability, measuring every batch for parts per billion of dissolved oxygen, and we also recently invested in a Reverse Osmosis System for our brew water,” said Poitras.

About Carolina Brewery

Carolina Brewery came to be when CEO Robert Potitras traveled through Europe, fell in love with beer, and set out to build his own brewery in 1995. He teamed up with fellow Tar Heel, Allen Corey - founder of SquareOne Holdings and former CEO of Gordon Biersch & Craftworks - to build a truly world-class brewery restaurant experience. Today, 28 years later, Carolina Brewery is a place where friends gather to enjoy made from scratch dishes and high quality craft beer. Carolina Brewery has received numerous accolades in the press and at respected beer festivals throughout the world, including four medals at the Great American Beer Festival and more than a dozen medals at the World Beer Championships. Carolina Brewery operates two restaurant locations in Chapel Hill and Pittsboro, N.C. The brand also consists of BBQ sauces and rubs, which are available at select grocery stores, restaurants, bars, and shops throughout the Carolinas.
