Weekend Picks: July 26th Segment on WPTF News Radio 680

Kristen here! I’m delivering some awesome picks for the weekend that were featured on my segment this morning on WPTF News Radio 680. Check out these awesome events going on in the Triangle area over the upcoming weekend.

Kirby DerbySaturday, July 27th
3pm to 9pm
Harvey Hill at Dix Park

Now in the 18th year, Kirby Derby is open to any and every one! This year the theme is “A Reel Good Time.” For those of you in need of a little Raleigh history lesson, the Kirby Derby has been a Raleigh tradition since 2002. Two residents of the Pullen Park Terrace neighborhood were responsible for putting together a neighborhood parade, and on year five, the “derby” part of the event was born. Think soapbox derby race with a fun theme! Costumes and silliness are always encouraged. This year, be sure to come out and cheer on the competitors.

Durham Craft MarketSaturday, July 27th
8am to 12pm
Durham Central Park

The Durham Craft Market includes a variety of affordable arts and crafts, all made with lots of love and high quality materials. Everything at the Durham Craft Market is handcrafted by and being sold by the person who made it, which we think is super cool. Chat with a local artist and support your neighbor this weekend!

Water Wars at TreeRunner Raleigh Adventure Park Saturday, July 27th
12pm to 3pm
12804 Norwood Road, Raleigh, NC 27613

This weekend is going to be hot and we think you should beat the heat! Come on out for Water Wars at the TreeRunner Raleigh Adventure Park. See if you can master all 70 exciting obstacles and zip lines as you get sprayed with squirt guns and super soakers. The best part? Going through the zip line spray tunnel! No matter your level of physical ability or age, there’s something for every skill level. Definitely make reservations by calling (919) 410-7347.

10am to 2pm
Smith Middle School in Chapel Hill

Chapel Hill Baptist is bringing Grandpop Bubbles and his free Bubble Festival all the way from Pennsylvania to Chapel Hill! This free event includes tons of fun for kids and adults alike.
