A Place at the Table Announces Grand Opening in Downtown Raleigh

A Place at the Table is excited to announce their 501(c)(3) nonprofit pay-what-you-can cafe's grand opening in the former Café de los Muertos Space in downtown Raleigh, NC. The official first day of opening will be January 8, 2018 and the nonprofit restaurant looks forward to welcoming anyone and everyone. A Place at the Table's new home is located at 300 W Hargett Street, Raleigh, NC 27601.

A Place at the Table is offering a laid-back, coffee shop atmosphere and will be open Monday through Saturday from 7am to 2pm. Their extensive menu includes buttermilk biscuits with sage sausage gravy, an assortment of sandwiches including delicious smokey chipotle pimento cheese, and a delectable waffle selection like the chai spiced waffle with butter, warm maple syrup, and whipped cream. All food and beverages will be pay-what-you-can.

The pay-what-you-can cafe model was made world-famous by the One World Every Body Eats Foundation and there are currently more than 60 of these unique cafes operating in the United States. The model allows patrons to pay for their meal in one of five ways: to pay what they can afford, to pay a suggested donation, to pay what they would typically pay plus a donation, to pay specifically for someone else’s full meal, or to pay by volunteering.

A Place at the Table is thankful for Northpond Partners and York Properties for helping to secure the permanent location, as well as buku, soca and Plan A Architecture for their support. The nonprofit is excited to see local patrons as well as out-of-towners at their grand opening and days to follow.
