Pistachio Hummus Crowned Winner of Sassool’s Annual Hummus Mix-Off

Raleigh, NC – December 9, 2024 – Sassool Mediterranean Café is thrilled to announce the winner of this year’s Annual Hummus Mix-Off, Roshauna Smith, whose innovative Pistachio Hummus stole the show at Sassool’s Winterfest celebration this past weekend. Chosen by popular vote during the lively event held at Sassool’s Cary location, Smith’s hummus earned her the coveted title of  2024 Hummus Champion.

“I am a huge fan of pistachios, so when I found a recipe for pistachio hummus, I wanted to give it a try! Also, the flavors of basil and cumin in the recipe are very Mediterranean, so I thought it was going to be a good flavor combination.” said Smith, reflecting on her winning creation.

As part of her win, Smith’s Pistachio Hummus will be featured in Sassool’s deli cases throughout January as the monthly special, giving customers the opportunity to taste the winning dip for themselves.

“Roshauna’s recipe perfectly embodies the spirit of Sassool,” said Mounir Saleh, owner of Sassool. “It’s creative, flavorful, and rooted in fresh, high-quality ingredients. We’re excited to share her hummus with our customers next month.”

Sassool’s Annual Hummus Mix-Off is a beloved community tradition, encouraging participants to explore Mediterranean flavors and reimagine the classic spread. This year’s competition drew an impressive 34 entries, with Smith’s Pistachio Hummus standing out during the final round of public voting at Winterfest.
