Friends of Tabletop: Meet Trevor Ferree from TSV Analytics

Friends of Tabletop is a place where we share who we love working with. This can range from a client, influencer/blogger, or special someone who simply means a lot to the Tabletop Team. Colleagues and friends who we’ve met throughout our journey with Tabletop Media Group make us a part of who we are.

For our January Friends of Tabletop, meet Trevor Ferree from TSV Analytics!

Tell us about TSV and your position there.

TSV Analytics is a social media analytics startup based on research work at N.C. State University by myself, Trevor Ferree, and Aidan McCarthy. TSV provides analytical insights into what people are saying on social media about your business, while also providing you with viral content ideas for social media posts. As a co-founder and the CEO of TSV, I'm constantly focusing on making the TSV product amazing and growing the business.

What's your favorite thing about starting your own company?

My favorite thing about starting my own company is being able to create my own path. Being a founder/owner comes with a lot of responsibility but also much more freedom, I'm now able to decide the next steps and make quick, crucial decisions on a daily basis, and I absolutely love that!

What's your coffee order?

I always go for a cold brew (nitro if possible), no cream or sugar, just black for the caffeine!

Do you have a favorite/fun story about how you got to where you are in your career, or maybe a fun story from working at TSV?

My favorite story is about how me and my co-founder, Aidan, met! During freshman orientation for N.C. State we were doing icebreakers and I learned that someone else in our group was a soccer fan, we ended up chatting a little while after and we learned we were not only both soccer fans, but we were also Manchester City fans! We ended up both living in Tucker Hall freshman year and would watch City matches together. And then a few years later, we had the opportunity to work on research at N.C. State together, which has now led to us both working on TSV!

What's your favorite dish to eat?

Butter chicken! I studied abroad in Manchester my sophomore year at NC State and the Indian food there was unbelievable.

What's your favorite local business to support?

My favorite local business to support is the London Bridge Pub in downtown Raleigh! As a massive Manchester City and soccer fan, the pub is the best place to watch the match and grab some fish and chips.

What's the most useful lesson you've learned from being in your role?

The most useful lesson I've learned from founding a startup is to just listen! Having just graduated from N.C. State and jumped into entrepreneurship, I very quickly learned how much I don't know. By listening to mentors, advisors, and most importantly TSV users, I've been able to learn so much in just a year of TSV.

Who impacted you the most in your career?

My research professor, Dr. Rand, at N.C. State's Poole College of Management had a massive impact on me! I met Dr. Rand my freshman year at N.C. State attending a "speed data-ing" event for students to meet research professors, and we got to chatting and I quickly realized that the projects that he was working on are exactly what I wanted to explore. Dr. Rand taught and mentored me all four years I attended N.C. State and even introduced me to social media analytics, which is now my life with TSV!
