Friends of Tabletop: Meet Sana from 1Eatz!

Friends of Tabletop is a place where we share who we love working with. This can range from a client, influencer/blogger, or special someone who simply means a lot to the Tabletop Team. Colleagues and friends who we’ve met throughout our journey with Tabletop Media Group make us apart of who we are.

This month, we’re featuring Sana Siddiqui, owner of 1Eatz! Check out our fun Q&A with her!

Tell us about 1Eatz and your position there.

I am the founder of 1Eatz and manage all day-to-day operations.

1Eatz aim is to cut down on meal-prep work so that healthy, home-cooked meals can be enjoyed without spending hours in the kitchen. We offer single-serve meal kits called “Egg Kits” that contain a mix of all-natural veggies, herbs and seasoning without any preservatives or artificial ingredients.  The Egg Kits are to be simply combined with eggs and can be cooked within minutes and in a variety of ways, without the need for cutting, chopping or prepping the ingredients.

Egg Kits are available in five flavors via our website and we offer free shipping on all orders. You can also find us at some local farmer’s/pop-up markets in the area this year.

What's your favorite thing about working in the Triangle?

There is something here for everyone.  The food scene, nature & parks, great schools, variety of industries, a bustling downtown and all of that along with an easy going, laid-back lifestyle. It’s like a big city without the hassles of the big city.  Plus the fact that we are only couple hours’ drive from the beach and the mountains pretty much makes it a perfect place to live.

What's your coffee order/bar order?

Cappuccino or Espresso every day. A peppermint mocha for special days!

Do you have a favorite/fun story about how 1Eatz got its start?

Looking back, this story didn’t seem “fun” at the time.  After my husband and I were blessed with twins, our life turned upside down and backwards in terms of time management. With always so much to do and never enough time, I had to drop my love of home cooking and we were basically surviving on take-out and frozen meals.  Breakfast was the easiest to skip since mornings were the busiest, until I started making these “mini meal kits” with veggies and herbs and setting them aside for quick cooking in the mornings.  With that, we were able to prepare and cook fresh breakfast everyday within minutes. These mini meal kits were the beginning of 1Eatz and later came to be known as “Egg Kits”.

What's your favorite dish to eat?
I can have sushi pretty much every day.

What is your least favorite food?

I don’t like black tea or anything with black tea in it.

What's your favorite Egg Kit?

I love making omelets with our new “Tomato, Mushroom & Red Onion” flavor, it makes them taste a lot like how my mom made them for us growing up.  That’s my favorite so far.

What's your favorite restaurant in the Triangle/other favorite local business to support?

We have been going to Seoul Garden in Raleigh for many years, they have the most authentic Korean food in the area.  Sake House in North Raleigh is our go-to sushi place.

What's the most useful lesson you've learned from being a small business owner?

My most useful lesson has been in managing priorities. I love that small businesses move at a fast pace. There is no waiting around, decisions have to be made quickly, things must get done right away and change is imminent. Where all of that is exciting, work life balance is just as important. I have been able to work on this exciting venture while spending quality time with my family, I consider that quite an accomplishment specially through this pandemic.

Who impacted you the most in your career?

My Parents. I have learned the most important life lessons from them that I have been able to apply throughout my career. They have been my biggest supporters in life and in career. They also love the Egg Kits and are always experimenting with new ways to use them. When we first launched 1Eatz, I got texts from them almost every morning with pictures of their Egg Kit breakfast, this was the inspiration behind 1Eatz “Recipes & Ideas” page.
