Friends of Tabletop: Meet Sam from Carolina Brewery
Friends of Tabletop is a place where we share who we love working with. This can range from a client, influencer/blogger, or special someone who simply means a lot to the Tabletop Team. Colleagues and friends who we’ve met throughout our journey with Tabletop Media Group make us a part of who we are.
For our April Friends of Tabletop, meet Sam from Carolina Brewery!
Tell us about Carolina Brewery and your position there.
Carolina Brewery is the Triangle’s oldest continuously-operating brewery and just celebrated its 28th Anniversary. We have two brewery restaurant locations, Chapel Hill and Pittsboro, and our beers are available in cans and on draft across the Carolinas. I started working for Carolina Brewery when I was 17 as a host at the Pittsboro location and now 10 years later I am the Marketing Manager for Carolina Brewery.
What's your favorite thing about working for Carolina Brewery?
The team. Working along side great people everyday makes all the difference.
What's your favorite Carolina Brewery beer and why?
Over the years, I’ve had many favorites but my current go to is our Costero Mexican Lager. Costero is crisp and refreshing - the perfect beer to enjoy after a long day at work or while relaxing on the beach. (Photo attached)
Do you have a fun story from working at Carolina Brewery?
So many! But here is one that came to mind: Let me start by saying that I am incredibly clumsy. On a recent video shoot, we were setting up a camp site that was about a half mile hike from our cars. We were all shuttling the supplies to the shoot site when I tripped on my own feet and fell down dropping everything that I was carrying. I couldn’t help but laugh. After checking that I was okay, everyone else joined in my laughing fit too. Normally falling down, especially in a professional setting, would be really embarrassing but it was a great reminder that things happen and that’s okay. I have been a part of a lot of photo and video shoots over the years and this shoot stands out as one of my favorites.
What's your favorite food?
That’s a hard one but if I have to pick, I would probably say pasta. Needless to say, I was very excited when we add the Pesto Shrimp Rigatoni to the menu! I take it home for dinner at least once a week. (Photos attached | Photo Credit: Anna Haddock)
What is your least favorite food?
Donuts- unpopular opinion I know.
What's your favorite thing to do in Chapel Hill?
Go to a Tar Heels game. Basketball, football or baseball, it doesn’t matter. One of my favorite things to do in my free time is go to a game with friends.
What's your favorite local business to support?
There’s too many to choose just one! In Chapel Hill, some of my favorites are Med Deli, Spicy 9, and BarTaco. In Pittsboro, some of my favorites are S&T Soda Shoppe, The MOD, and Mi Cancun.
What's your favorite springtime activity?
Anything outside! As soon as the weather warms up, I will make any excuse to enjoy the sunshine.
What's the most useful lesson you've learned from being in your role?
Flexibility and thinking outside of the box. A majority of my day to day work is planning but sometimes even with the best planning things don’t go to plan. Learning to think on my feet and pivot to a new plan has been incredibly helpful in my role.
