Friends of Tabletop: Meet Bert and Rebecca Chedrani from The Latin Effect

Friends of Tabletop is a place where we share who we love working with. This can range from a client, influencer/blogger, or special someone who simply means a lot to the Tabletop Team. Colleagues and friends who we’ve met throughout our journey with Tabletop Media Group make us a part of who we are.

For our May Friends of Tabletop, meet Bert and Rebecca Chedrani from The Latin Effect!

Tell us about The Latin Effect and your position there.

I am the full-time operator of the food truck from cooking to scheduling our events and running the register.

Why did you start The Latin Effect?

I’ve always dreamed of opening a restaurant, but while at a music festival a few years ago in North Hills the idea of a food truck sparked. We ordered tacos from a food truck and my wife said how much better mine were than those. I told her we should start our own truck and sell the food I grew up eating that most Americans probably haven’t experienced. I tweaked some of my mother’s recipes in order to make them food truck friendly and The Latin Effect was born.

What is your favorite thing about owning your food truck?

I really like interacting with our customers and seeing them enjoy our food.

Do you have a favorite story about how you got to where you are in your career, or a fun story from working at The Latin Effect?

My favorite part of our story is really how we decided to start the food truck. But a fun story is right before we got rolling, I decided I might need a refresher on some of our recipes so I traveled to Honduras in February 2020 just to make sure my recipes were just right.

What is your least favorite food?

I really like and eat everything!

What about favorite food?

It’s hard for me to pick just one but chicken wings, a ribeye and ceviche are my top three.

What is your bar order?

I love a good bourbon with a splash of coke.

What is one of your unpopular opinions?

Pineapple belongs on pizza!

What is your favorite thing to do outside of working?

Spending time with my family. We love traveling to the beach just to relax. We’re also big sports fans, so depending on the season we’re normally watching games.

What's the most useful lesson you've learned from being a small business owner?

I just want to encourage anyone who’s thinking about starting their own business to believe in themselves and do it! There are definitely hard days, especially when you first start, but it is such a rewarding experience to see people really enjoying your product and, in my case, come back for more!
