Cape Fear Farm Credit Announces Second Annual Community Service Project Centered on Support and Produce
For the second year in a row, Cape Fear Farm Credit (CFFC) is partnering with local farmers to share their fresh produce with food donation centers and families throughout Southeastern North Carolina. The community service project was created in 2020 when Cape Fear Farm Credit saw an opportunity to serve both farmer customers and communities during the COVID-19 crisis. By working with local farmers to put their fresh produce on plates throughout communities, CFFC was able to provide fresh produce to over 2,700 people in need and work with over 35 local farmers throughout southeastern North Carolina.
The fresh produce will be packaged and distributed by CFFC branches through local area partners to make sure families have healthy, local food on their plates this summer. Working with local farmer customers-owners to secure a range of produce including corn, cucumbers, tomatoes, bell peppers, potatoes, squash, zucchini, blueberries, blackberries and more, all nine CFFC branches plan to fill bags with fresh local produce. The Association will once again pack and distribute over 700 bags to local communities with enough produce to feed 2,700 people. All community projects involving over 80 employees, will be completed throughout July.
Each Branch donation will occur according to the below schedule:
· Week of June 21 - Raeford, Whiteville, Harnett
· Week of June 28 - Administrative and Consumer Department
· Week of July 5 - Elizabethtown, Burgaw
· Week of July 12 - Kenansville, Lumberton, Clinton
