Cape Fear Farm Credit Announces Scholarship Program

Cape Fear Farm Credit has announced their 2022 scholarship opportunities. This year, $22,000 will be given out to support academic excellence, community involvement, and leadership for students committed to southeastern North Carolina agriculture and rural development. In the past, Cape Fear Farm Credit only offered these scholarships to high school students; however, they are excited to announce that this is the first year they are offering college level scholarship opportunities. Scholarship Opportunities 

College At-Large Scholarship

For the first time ever, four $1,000 scholarships will be given to enrolled college students pursuing a degree for a career focused on agriculture and/or serving rural communities. Applicants must reside in or be connected to an agricultural operation in a county served by Cape Fear Farm Credit. They must also be the child or grandchild of a Cape Fear Farm Credit member. Applicants must meet the academic requirement of a minimum 3.0 GPA on an unweighted scale and the applicants must be accepted in a college or university program as a full-time undergraduate student.

 FFA & 4-H Scholarship

One FFA scholarship award is available each year to a high school senior residing in the counties served by Cape Fear Farm Credit. Applicants must have at least one year of membership with FFA or 4-H. This scholarship is awarded in the amount of $2,000 per year for up to four years. Applicants must meet the academic requirement of a minimum 3.0 GPA on an unweighted scale and maintain a 3.0 GPA on an unweighted scale to continue to receive the scholarship each year. Additionally, the applicants must be accepted in a college or university program as a full-time undergraduate student.

High School At-Large Scholarship

Eight $1,000 scholarships will be available each year to high school seniors. Applicants must reside in or be connected to an agricultural operation in a county served by Cape Fear Farm Credit. They must also be the child or grandchild of a Cape Fear Farm Credit member. Applicants must meet  the academic requirement of a minimum 3.0 GPA on an unweighted scale. Additionally, the applicants must be accepted in a college or university program as a full-time undergraduate student. 

Diversity Scholarship

One $1,000 diversity scholarship will be available. To be considered for this scholarship, the applicants must appropriately identify their racial/ethnic status on the application. Applicants must be either a high school senior or currently enrolled in a college or four-year university. They must reside in or be connected to an agricultural operation in a county served by Cape Fear Farm Credit. They must also be the child or grandchild of a Cape Fear Farm Credit member. Applicants must meet the academic requirement of a minimum 3.0 GPA on an unweighted scale and maintain a 3.0 GPA on an unweighted scale and the applicants must be accepted in a college or university program as a full-time undergraduate student.

AgYouth Leadership Scholarship

Up to three $1,000 scholarships will be available. Applicants must reside in a county served by Cape Fear Farm Credit. To be considered for this scholarship, the applicants must be a senior in high school in good standing with his/her FFA or 4-H program and  with their high school. The AgYouth Leadership scholarship has a different application and deadlines.
