A Place at the Table Announces Pay-What-You-Can Food Truck Rodeo and New “PLACE Card”

A Place at the Table is excited to host a Pay-What-You-Can Food Truck Rodeo on June 5, 2022 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. This fun-filled community day will consist of delicious meals, refreshments and desserts from a variety of food trucks including: And Also With ‘Cue, Qspresso, Inter-Faith Food Shuttle, Magdalena's Chimney Cakes and Bulkogi Truck. All food trucks will have special menus prepared for the event. Wake Tech will also be providing an assortment of cookies and small desserts. The Pay-What-You-Can Food Truck Rodeo will take place in the parking lot on the corner of West Hargett and South Harrington street across from A Place at the Table.

Admission is free for attendees to enjoy the Pay-What-You-Can Food Truck Rodeo festivities. Just like at the cafe during normal business hours, there will be four different ways to pay for meal tickets. You will have the option to pay for your meal by paying the suggested meal price of $12 a ticket, paying less than the suggested price, volunteering for your meal, or paying a meal forward. To purchase food tickets ahead of time for yourself or to pay-it-forward, click HERE or purchase day of, at the event.

This event was made possible by the generous sponsorship of Highwoods PropertiesAPCO Worldwide , Sysco, and the Elliott and Vulcano Family.

A Place At The Table PLACE Cards

A Place at the Table is also excited to announce their new PLACE Card. The PLACE Card will be replacing their pay-what-you-can wooden meal tokens and will look like a credit card or gift card. These PLACE cards will continue to go to our nonprofit partners for their folks to come enjoy a free meal at Table, as well as be available to be purchased by diners to give to their friends in need of a meal and/or community.

“Our team wants the cafe to be the most inclusive place possible. While the token did what we intended it to do for years, we realized that it was time to step our game up and bring more dignity to each person walking in the door. No matter if you are using a credit card, gift card, or PLACE card, you will be using a similar looking currency,”  says Maggie Kane, Founder and Executive Director of A Place at the Table.

Junction Road Pictures generously donated their time and expertise to produce a video explaining how the PLACE Card will work and benefit the community. A Place at the Table is excited to premier the video today; it can be viewed HERE.
