Village District Celebrates 75 Years

Raleigh, NC - April 3, 2024 - A beloved neighborhood destination and cherished local icon for Raleigh shoppers and diners since 1949, Village District is thrilled to celebrate its 75th anniversary this April 2024. As the oldest shopping center in Raleigh and the entire Southeast, Village District takes pride in its rich legacy of tradition and taste. The Regency Centers team will pay tribute to long-standing tenants and warmly welcome new stores in 2024.  At the center of this year's commemorations will be the Anniversary Celebration,taking place on Saturday, April 20th, 2024 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. along Woodburn Road in the shopping center located at 2068 Clark Ave, Raleigh, NC 27605. 

The Anniversary Celebration is the culmination of a year’s worth of planning that incorporates Village District’s tenants, support from other Raleigh classics, and family fun vendors and activities. An intricate part of this center-wide celebration will include hot dogs from The Roast Grill, Raleigh’s iconic hot dog joint. Village District reached out to the renowned Raleigh establishment due to its rich history and strong ties to the local community.

Local insiders will also appreciate a nostalgic musical tribute to The Underground, a former Raleigh nightlife hotspot (1971-1984) with live music all afternoon. 

Relax in the pop-up beer garden with Village District’s special anniversary brew, Village 75.  Earlier this year, the center collaborated with Standard Beer + Food to create the exclusive brew, available on draft or in cans. Guests aged 21 and above will enjoy a complimentary pour at the Anniversary Celebration.  Additionally, the first 250 attendees with a wristband will receive branded frosted cups as a token of the occasion.

In addition to the permanent lineup of stores, attendees can shop a mini pop-up market featuring 10 local vendors or grab a bite at one of the 20+ eateries in the shopping center. A few of the local pop-up vendors include: Designed for Joy, Wild Flora Flowers, Stitch Golf, Shop Valerosa, City Garden Design, Lauren Sumner Pottery and more!


Village District’s 75th Anniversary sponsors include: Carolina Sweepers, Matt Bradley Plumbing, New City Design Group, MP Contracting, Longleaf Law Partners, Regency Centers, Big Blue Restoration, Greenscape, York Properties, Aloft Hotels, Triangle Lawn Games, and The Great Raleigh Trolley. Parking will be readily available at the shopping center and at Broughton High School Lots. The Great Raleigh Trolley will have complimentary shuttle rides all day to and from the Broughton lots. Trolley pick up and drop off points are noted on the map below.
