Friends of Tabletop: Meet DeeDee from Citrine Salon

Friends of Tabletop is a place where we share who we love working with. This can range from a client, influencer/blogger, or special someone who simply means a lot to the Tabletop Team. Colleagues and friends who we’ve met throughout our journey with Tabletop Media Group make us a part of who we are.

For our February Friends of Tabletop, meet DeeDee from Citrine Salon!

Tell us about Citrine and your position there.

Citrine is a luxury salon nestled in the heart of Chapel Hill, NC. We celebrated 14 years of operation last October! I am the Salon Manager and I try my hardest to run the salon like a well oiled machine while still having the most fun!

What is your favorite thing about working at Citrine?

My favorite thing about working at Citrine is my interactions with the clients and the staff. I am a people person and love making everyone feel special and making people smile.

Do you have a fun story from working at Citrine?

This isn't really a funny story, more like bizarre. Last Summer we had a family of birds make a nest in the trees out in front of the salon. They were extremely territorial and would attack our clients and other patrons walking by or sitting on the benches. They would swoop down and try to nip at anyone who passed by. It was actually kind of terrifying. The one thing that did make me chuckle was when a gentleman walked by and the birds did their usual swooping and he turned around and tried to punch the bird. Of course he missed and when the bird swooped down again more aggressively, he took off running and yelling!

How does your hair make you feel confident?

I think of your hair as your crown. When your hair is fabulous, you move the world like the Queen/King that you are!

Do you have any hair advice for our readers?

My hair advice would be to ask your stylist about the products they recommend! They are professionals and will help you select the best shampoo, conditioner, treatments, and styling products that will have your hair looking top notch!

What is your favorite coffee order?

I love a black and white mocha with coconut milk and whipped cream from Starbucks!

What is your favorite food?

My favorite food until the end of time would be Mexican. I could eat it seven days a week!

What is your least favorite food?

Pickled beets would have to be my least favorite food.

What is your favorite thing to do in Chapel Hill?

My favorite thing to do in Chapel Hill is go to a UNC basketball or football game of course! I am excited to say my nephew will be attending UNC next year as a freshman and will be a member of the Men's Basketball team!

What is your favorite movie?

I couldn't just pick one. My favorite movies of all time are, The Waterboy, Girls Just Want To Have Fun, and Dirty Dancing.

What is the most useful lesson you've learned from being in your role?

The most important lesson I have learned from being in my role is that you have to be a chameleon when working in the customer service and beauty industry. You cannot interact with everyone the same way. You must read the room and behave accordingly, professionally, and with integrity.
